Fall is my favorite time to get cozy by the fireplace with a cup of hot tea and a good book. There is nothing like getting lost in a book that creates mental imagery like watching a movie in your head, and walks you away from your reality into another whole dimension. I love the old-fashioned kind with paper pages and that old familiar scent. Did you know that smell has a word? I just learned this recently - it’s called “bibliosmia” and it’s caused by the chemical breakdown of compounds in the paper!
The genre of books I enjoy most often are non-fiction geared toward learning about the science and reasoning behind the connection of mind, body and spirit, about the effects that our thoughts, emotions and beliefs have on our body’s physical processes, how food can be used as medicine, and how meditation and mindfulness has everything to do with physical and emotional health. I’m especially fascinated (as you might expect) about energy work and its effectiveness for helping to promote healing within the physical AND emotional bodies, and how spirituality is involved with pretty much everything. It’s also super exciting to have my core beliefs supported by scientific facts and spiritual insights presented by highly educated professionals who I respect and admire.
If you’re on this page, you likely have the same interests! Here are just a few of my very favorite books I’ve learned so much from in case you’re interested in checking them out, too. Happy reading, and happy healing!
