Kind people tend to make other people’s feelings a priority over their own. If someone hurts them, they’ll usually keep it to themselves to avoid causing someone else pain by calling them out. It doesn’t go away- in time, pain and resentment slowly build up and eventually become intolerable (and can manifest physically). By tolerating certain behavior, you give others permission to treat you a certain way. Realizing that your feelings are just as important as those you love means showing yourself the same kindness that you would afford to others. This takes practice, but makes for more genuine, honest relationships. Don’t sacrifice yourself for other people’s comfort.
